How to Start the New Year Right with Your Garden

A new year means a fresh start for most of us. Have you thought of putting up a garden or revamping your existing one as another new year comes? Starting a garden must be fun for you. Do not stress yourself out and plan things ahead to save yourself from stress.

We came up with tips that will help you grow the garden of your dreams.

1.Determine the type of garden that you would like to have.

There are many types of gardens to choose from and the most common types would be gardens with planting beds, in-ground plants, and potted plants or it could be the combination of all these.

2.Choose the best location for your desired garden.

Be sure that you will choose a location that receives a good amount of sunlight during the day. If you are just starting, it is recommended that you start from a smaller space first. You can expand if everything will go well and in accordance to your liking.

3.Start digging in the soil.

Once you have chosen the best location for your garden, it is time to dig in the soil if you are planning to create an in-ground plants garden. If not, you can skip this step and proceed to the next one.

4.Purchase the seeds and plants of your choice.

It is up to you if you want to start from nothing and buy seeds or you can buy seedlings. Peppers, tomatoes, and carrots are suggested to beginners because these plants are easier to grow compared to other plants. You can try growing other plants if growing these plants is a success. You may also need to buy gardening tools if you don’t have them yet.

5.Plant the seeds or seedlings.

After you have purchased the seeds or seedlings of your choice, it is time to either plant them on planting beds, the ground, or pots. While doing so, be reminded that space and amount of seeds may be crucial in making them grow. Look for instructions that may be attached to the packaging.

6.Water them as needed.

Do not let your seeds and seedlings dry out. Water them regularly, but in moderation. Over-watering will eventually kill the plants or drown them. Be careful as plants watering needs differ from one another.
